Many are familiar with the angels' announcement, as it appears on Christmas cards--which quote the King James Version of Lk. 2:14 (peace on earth, good will to men). But the discovery of older Greek manuscripts of Luke have led to a more recent translation like that of the Revised Standard Version, which translates: "and on earth, peace among men with whom he is pleased." Thus the angels were not announcing peace for the whole earth at that time; they announced a new peace among the people (Jesus' disciples) with whom he (God) is pleased.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
